All about The Metaverse

Today’s technology evolves at a breakneck speed, allowing for more rapid development and advancement and speeding up the rate of change. However, technological trends and developing technologies are not the only things that are changing. People are also changing their perspectives on what to expect from technologies. By listening to the word technology, the term Metaverse comes to one’s mind.

Let me introduce you to the Metaverse:

The term “metaverse” was first used in Neil Stevenson’s 1982 novel, Snow Crash. Stevenson’s metaverse was a virtual place where characters could go to escape a dreary totalitarian reality.

Meta means Beyond and verse tells the universe.

You’ve undoubtedly heard the rumours that the metaverse is about to alter your life. The metaverse, however, is a simple idea. It’s generally defined as online environments where individuals may interact, work, and play as avatars, and it’s a progression of the internet. Those places are shared and constantly accessible, unlike a Zoom call, they don’t vanish after you’ve done using them.

The metaverse refers to a digital world where people will meet to work, play, and hang out. It is a concept for the next phase in the internet’s growth story. Some of those online places will be immersive 3D experiences that will need the use of special eyewear. Others will take place on a computer monitor.

There will be many themes to play but according to the sources, one common theme will be that the metaverse will be a virtual realm that mirrors our real-life existence. Digital communities, parks, and clubs will emerge in a single virtual world or across many. Some individuals believe there is a metaverse that exists alongside the actual world and contains augmented reality overlays. Investors such as Animoca Brands and others have already invested money Millions into Metaverses like Upland, Sandbox, Decentraland, Gala, Axie, and Infinity.

Barbados has shown interest in establishing an embassy in the metaverse, demonstrating the popularity of the notion.

Metaverse Land in Web 3.0 is equivalent to Domain name URLs in Web 2.0 and Web 1.0. You can build on that land the same as you build a website today and in order to do that you first need the domain name URL (metaverse land in the future).

Web 1.0 was when websites only had text (the best example currently of this is the Berkshire Hathaway Website).

Web 2.0 was when we got photos and videos – For example, Websites like Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo, Pinterest, etc.

Web 3.0 is when websites will be 3D and some even immersive 3D. The use case of a metaverse Land is a utility or any other commercial use case that will be evident when that happens.

It’s become a catchphrase in gaming, Fashion, Media, non-fiction books,  retail and almost every industry and will continue to do so in the future.
What is certain is that if there is money to be made, huge corporations like Microsoft, Apple, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Valve, Epic, HTC, and Apple, will eventually have to enter the metaverse. Microsoft, Meta, and other FAANG companies are all working on new methods to interact online. In the next years, you’ll hear a lot more about the metaverse.
